Wire wrapped jewelry tutorial: make wire wrapped rings for children

This afternoon, I posted yet another jewellery tutorial on HubPages: this one shows you how to make a wire wrapped coil ring for kids.

The great thing about these rings is that they're easy to make, once you get the hang of it. It's even an activity that you can do with an older child. Artistic wire isn't expensive at all and comes in a lot of fun colors, and this project gives kids the opportunity to be creative. Making these wire wrapped rings is something fun that can be done on a rainy day and works as an activity for a birthday party. These also make great gifts to stick in a goody bag or stocking.

When I was a kid, I loved making crafts. I didn't get into jewelry making until I was an adult, but as a child I spent hours drawing, painting and playing with clay. I know that things are different for kids these days and many spend their time playing video games or chatting with friends online. Still, there's something to be said for simple, creative fun.

Jewellery Tutorial: How to make a wire wrapped bangle bracelet

I've just published another one of my jewelry making tutorials on HubPages. In this one, I teach you how to make a handmade wire wrapped brass and silver bangle bracelet.

As I've said before on this blog, I initially learned all of my jewelry making schools from watching videos and studying tutorials online. There are thousands of talented jewelry artists out there who've been generous enough to share their secrets -- for free. Taking in-person classes has helped me a great deal, but I would never be where I am today without having studied online first. For this reason, I feel a responsibility to pay it forward and share with others what I've learned so far.

This particular bracelet is one of my most popular designs. It's very simple and not to difficult to make, with some practice. My tutorial includes detailed photos so you can visual step-by-step instruction. So check it out!

Driving Traffic To Your Etsy Shop With A Blog

This feels a little meta posting this here, but I think it's valuable information for anyone who's looking to make money online in some way. This is an article I wrote for HubPages about using a blog to drive traffic to an Etsy store.

Making money online -- whether it's through writing, opening a shop on Etsy, or whatever -- is a complicated business. And yes, it's a business. When I began writing online about three years ago, I knew NOTHING. I thought that I could post some articles and people would automatically find my site. Same goes for Etsy; though I wasn't quite as naive when I opened my shop, I still did many things wrong. In both cases, I had to learn about search engine optimization (SEO), backlinks, rss feeds and all of these other new, unfamiliar words. It was like learning a new language and a new culture ... all so I could make a few extra bucks.

I've been fairly successful with online marketing and feel confident enough to share my expertise with the rest of the world. When I began, I looked for articles that catered to people like me -- people who really didn't know too much about using computers to make money. I'm hoping that my easy-to-understand approach will assist those who want to get started and don't know how.

I won't lie. Making money online is NOT easy. I've put a lot of time into marketing my writing and my jewelry, and while I've done pretty well, I'm still not nearly as successful as I'd like to be. I'm still learning. I hope that my words make this learning just a little easier for someone else.

HubPages Article: How To Use A Jeweler's Saw

Check out my latest article on Hubpages: It's a tutorial that tells you how to use a jeweler's saw. This skill is for the more advanced jeweler, as you also have to have some basic drilling skills. But you can learn them in tandem, as I did. I'll soon have tutorials on drilling and filing -- not the most exciting topics, but absolutely necessary in the world of jewelry making. HubPages Article: How To Make A Handmade Wire Wrapped Stone Pendant

I've published another jewelry making tutorial on HubPages. This one shows you how to make a basic wire wrapped stone pendant. I use lav stone to make the necklace, but you can use any kind of stone you like.

Some people may wonder why I'm giving away my "trade secrets" with these tutorials, but I don't see it like that. I'm just sharing a skill that I've learned and after that, it's up to the student to come up with his or her own ideas for designs. Still, everyone has to learn from somewhere and I'm happy to help. I initially learned how to make jewelry by watching videos online and reading blogs such as this. I'm now taking classes. I'm proud that I've reached a point where I now feel confident in sharing my knowledge.

But if you want to take a stab at making this pendant, head here.

Wire wrapped jewelry patterns: make a wire wrapped copper bracelet

Good news! I am now sharing my jewelry making secrets on HubPages.

As I explained in my earlier post, I am now freelancing/designing jewelry full time. That said, I'm combining both of my skills and am writing instructional articles for simple wire wrapped jewelry projects.

The first project is a copper bracelet made of four-leaf clover links. It's really cute and easy to do. For more information, head to my HubPages article.

My HubPages Article About Selling On Etsy

One of the sites that I enjoy writing for is HubPages. I've made some decent money on them and it's a great way to be creative with my writing. Anyway, here's the piece I just did on Etsy:
