Handmade wire wrapped jewelry: wire wrapped triple daisy dangle earrings in blue and silver

I recently received a fun request from a customer: she found me on my kids' jewelery page, MayaGirl Creations and asked if I could make an adult-sized version of my double daisy dangle earrings. These earrings had large blue wire wrapped daisies hanging from smaller silver daisies. I made them based on the fact that my single daisy earrings had become so popular. So I was now going from one flower to three.

I gave her a choice of a silver-blue-silver combo or blue-silver-blue and she went for the latter. She also asked that the highest daisy be the smallest and the bottom flower, the largest -- and that all three fit into a 2 1/2 inch frame.

I've literally made thousands of these wire wrapped flowers -- seriously, I've had dreams of them -- but it took a couple of tries to get them to meet her requests. The small daisy kept coming out too big... which meant I had to make the other two even larger and then the earrings were too long. I finally solved my problem by adding only six petals on the smallest, while the other two have eight each.

I'm always tweaking my designs, but customers often beat me to the punch and come up with a good idea for my shop! These triple daisies make a great addition, especially for spring.

Wire wrapped jewelry: daisy flower earrings

Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday! I expected business to slow down after Christmas and Chanukah, but I'm still getting orders. I guess people are now enjoying gift certificates and are buying for themselves. Nothing wrong with that -- I love to shop!

What's been really nice this holiday season is that my kids' shop, MayaGirl Creations, has picked up. Honestly, I don't advertise it as much as I do my main store -- I have only so many hours in the day -- but sales have been picking up on their own. While the infinity rings rule Naomi's Designs, my most popular girls' item seems to be my wire wrapped daisy flower earrings:

I think that girls like these because they're simple, but colorful and sweet. I loved floral jewelry when I was young; in fact, I still like it. And these daisy earrings are youthful, but not childish looking.

So far, I've sold these in every color that I offer. The red ones are brand new; I haven't even listed them yet on Etsy, so you're getting first view!

I enjoy making complicated jewellery pieces and am always trying to challenge myself. But I'm discovering that it can be just as rewarding to make simpler designs when you know that the person who's wearing your work is happy.

Wire wrapped bracelet daisy flowers in blue, turquoise and aqua

Yuck, it's so hot out today in New York City! It's supposed to reach a sizzling 98 degrees so I'm hiding out inside where we can crank up the A/C. I'm also trying to think of cooling thoughts ... like snow-covered mountains and the North Pole.

A great way to "think cool," too is to envision cool colors, like blues and greens. So here is one of my recent designs, this wire wrapped daisy flower bracelet in blue, turquoise and aqua:

Once upon a time, purple was my favorite color, but as an adult it's all shades of blue. I think it's because blue reminds me of the ocean and I love the water. That probably has something to do with my birth sign being Aquarius.

From a distance, this wire wrapped pattern looks almost as if it were knit, but that's all wire. It still amazes me sometimes that I can take a strand of wire and turn it into a complex object, like a daisy. I like making as many parts of my pieces as I can from scratch and working with wire allows me to do just that.
